1/18/23 • John • Week 2
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
A. WHAT?
1) Who are the religious leaders suggesting that John the Baptist is (vv. 20-21)?
2) Who did John the Baptist say that he was (v. 22), and why he was baptizing (vv. 25-27)?
3) According to John the Baptist, what is Jesus’ mission as the Messiah (v. 29)?
4) How does John the Baptist know that Jesus is the Messiah (vv. 32-34)?
5) What do the disciples do after they begin following Jesus (vv. 41-42, 45)?
B. SO WHAT?
1) Why did John the Baptist take attention off of himself and point it to Jesus?
2) What does it mean that Jesus is called the "Lamb of God” (v. 29 and 36)?
3) Why do you think that Jesus’ invitation to His disciples is to “come and see” (v. 39)?
C. NOW WHAT?
1) Do you struggle to take the attention off of yourself and point people to Jesus? How does this passage help you?
2) What does the truth that Jesus took away all of our sins mean for us when we struggle with day-to-day sins and temptations?
3) How can you invite someone this week to “come and see” (v. 46)?
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1) If someone were to paint a picture of your life, what objects would be seen in the portrait as symbols of who you are? Would you, like John, be pointing others to Jesus? If not, then to what does your life point?
2) Name one person that you can invite to “come and see” this week. Pray for this person and ask God to give you an opportunity to speak to them.
